Singer-songwriter Leeroy Stagger shares his rosy outlook on life with his hopeful and dreamy new single 'More Love Than Money' out today on all digital streaming platforms. Watch video here.
‘More Love Than Money’ is the 3rd single from Leeroy Stagger’s new album Dystopian Weekends, which is set for release on October 15th. A charmer of a track, ‘More Love Than Money’ speaks to finding happiness and looking on the bright side of life amidst a world of darkness.
"'More Love Than Money' is about making major life decisions based on happiness and intuition rather than fear," says Leeroy. "There are plenty of voices that can talk you out of a dream, but if you follow the ones that guide your heart, you realize that anything is possible - even if it means giving something up to start fresh, or at the bottom of something different. It’s about new beginnings and running off of the love of the people that support you.”
Recorded at Afterlife Studios in Vancouver at the beginning of the global pandemic, Leeroy Stagger's 12th full-length album, Dystopian Weekends, is the serum of truth with a slice of light and darkness that we all need right now. The album contains songs of environmental degradation, greedy land developers, Christmas songs about junkies and alcoholics, songs about race wars in America, modern day dust bowl songs of fleeing political ideology, break-up songs, and songs honouring dead friends. It all seems a bit much on paper, but Leeroy's skillful songwriting and the help of his band The Rebeltone Sound, have honoured it all in a very beautiful, relevant, and artistic way.
"I’m extremely proud of the last couple of records I’ve made," says Leeroy. "I tried very hard to reach as many people as possible with the production of those records, whereas this record I made for myself. Instead of referencing what was on the radio at the time, I went back to my favourite Bob Dylan records and records like 421 Ocean Blvd and The Silver Tongued Devil and I to plant some production seeds. I definitely followed some more traditional guideposts. I wanted the songs to speak for themselves."
'More Love Than Money' is available now on Spotify, Apple Music/iTunes, and other digital retailers and streaming services worldwide. For more info, please visit leeroystagger.com.
